Our Team

Nikki Lowy

Director of Community & City Outreach & Programming

Nikki Lowy is the Director of City & Community Outreach & Programming at Northeastern University. She grew up in the North Bay (Mill Valley) and currently lives in Oakland after stints in San Francisco and Berkeley. Nikki has a background spanning non-profits, early-stage start-ups, and established corporations and specializes in forging impactful partnerships. She has led teams in developing innovative solutions, such as designing sustainable, pre-fab school buildings and expanding homeownership opportunities for essential professionals. Her expertise extends to creating and implementing effective community participation models for public-private planning initiatives, which she most recently led for Google’s real estate team in Mountain View. She came to Northeastern in August 2023 and is thrilled to work with her colleagues to ensure Northeastern is a helpful and trusted neighbor to the City and Community of Oakland.

Carrie Maultsby-Lute

Head of Partnerships

Carrie Maultsby-Lute, MBA is the Head of Partnerships at Northeastern University’s Oakland Campus. As a marketing professional and educator Carrie is passionate about nurturing the next generation of mission-driven leaders. Carrie’s professional experience includes corporate environments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and startups. As a Professor of Practice, Carrie brings industry-relevant curriculum to the classroom and has led experiential learning projects with over 75 organizations and facilitated convenings that amplified the work and voice of over 500+ leaders throughout the world. Formerly, Carrie was the Director of the Center for Transformative Action at Mills College. Select awards she has recently received include Northeastern University’s Inaugural Global Network Accelerator Award for co-founding an impact engine, C2C: Policy Equity for All, and New York Life’s Love Takes Action award for her role in supporting small businesses. Carrie has a B.A. in Anthropology from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Mills College and has taught business courses at Mills College, Northeastern University, Presidio Graduate School of Business, and Merritt College.

Karimah Omer

Associate Director of Partnerships

Karimah Omer, MBA serves as the Associate Director of Partnerships for Northeastern University’s Oakland campus. She received a MBA from the Lokey Graduate School of Business from Mills College after earning her Bachelors Degree at Mills College. Since joining the Northeastern team in Oakland, she has supported trek initiatives designed to immerse students in real-world experiences by visiting prominent companies such as Google, PayPal, Tesla, SAP, and Block, as well as engaging with community leaders like Oakland Roots, Oakland Zoo, and The Port of Oakland. Her commitment lies in leveraging Northeastern’s Experiential Education ethos by forging partnerships with leading organizations to expand students’ horizons.
